Chatham dedicates statue honoring the five killed in the YNOT crash

The monument at Chatham Community Park features an eternal-flame top with arcs for each of the five victims.

Chatham dedicated a statue Tuesday honoring the four children and a camp counselor who died when a car crashed into the YNOT After School program building last year, WAND reports. Butler Funeral Homes led the project.

The monument’s circular base represents unity and community support, and its top represents an eternal flame, with arcs representing the five victims. Location manager Katie Mendenhall Wilson said it gives everyone a place to go and remember. It is now on display at Chatham Community Park.
